The boy standing on the left side of the side-scene is the leader of the dance and is called “Gand-bash”, i.e. the head of the circle. “Gand-bash” holds a handkerchief in his left hand, with the help of which he gives a sign to the dancers at the beginning of the dance. There are episodes in the dance that are performed solely by ladies or by men.

Malambo
Malambo

Malambo is a performance made by movements of legs, while each performer tries to show his strength opposed to the other. It is void of any rules: every move is made in a unique way and to some extent depends on the unique approach of the dance director.
