imgptnw_232_01-tile

Argentine Post and Armenia Post have been collaborated to issue the stamps features traditional dance of their country on April 4, 2009. The issuance comprised of two stamps.

Hoy-Nazan
The name of the dance originated from the national song “Hoy-Nazan” which accompanies the performance of the dance. The dance is mainly performed in couples and groups. During the dance the dancers form a circle and move back and forth in rows. The boy standing on the left side of the side-scene is the leader of the dance and is called “Gand-bash”, i.e. the head of the circle. “Gand-bash” holds a handkerchief in his left hand, with the help of which he gives a sign to the dancers at the beginning of the dance. There are episodes in the dance that are performed solely by ladies or by men.

Malambo
Malambo
is an Argentinian national dance. It is mainly performed in rural areas, with guitar accompaniment. It is a unique dance which does not contain lyrical melodies and is performed exclusively by men. Malambo is a performance made by movements of legs, while each performer tries to show his strength opposed to the other. It is void of any rules: every move is made in a unique way and to some extent depends on the unique approach of the dance director.
