Devoted to turboprop aircraft technology, Iran and Ukraine have pleased to release a pair of joint-issue stamp feature Antonov An-140 aircraft on March 06, 2005. Iranian Post present IR-140 on stamp and Ukraine Post present AN-140 on stamp.
The HESA IrAn-140 or Iran-140 is a short-range twin-turboprop airliner based on the Antonov An-140 and built under license by HESA of Iran. The Iran-140 is able to seat 52 passengers, land on a dirt airstrip and fly almost 3,000 km (1,900 mi) before refueling. It can be configured to carry passengers, cargo, or a combination of the two.Iran plans to design and manufacture upgraded Iran-140s for maritime patrol (Iran140-MP) and freighter duties (Iran140-T).
The Antonov An-140 is a turboprop regional airliner, designed by the Ukrainian Antonov ASTC bureau. It first flew on September 17, 1997. Apart from the main production line in Kharkiv by KSAMC, the aircraft is being manufactured in Russia, and under license by HESA in Iran (as the IR.AN-140 or Iran-140), and it may also begin production in Kazakhstan. It can carry a maximum of 52 passengers.The base An-140-100 can be built for civilian, military and special purpose: maritime patrol, medical, aerial photography, geological exploration, freight etc.
